Some statistics on pastors
Came across these statistics today regarding pastors and was sobered by them especially when I consider that some of them are probably low since many pastors would not want to admit to such thoughts/feelings.
25% have been forced out of or fired from their ministry.
90% feel inadequately trained to cope with ministry demands. 80% believe that pastoral ministry affects their families negatively. 45% say they’ve experienced depression or burnout to the extent that they needed to take a leave of absence. 40% have serious conflict with a church member 1x/month. 70% do not have someone they consider a close friend. 66% and their families feel pressure to model the ideal family to their congregations and communities. 20% admit to having an affair while in the ministry. 37% admit that Internet pornography is a current struggle. 72% stated they only studied the Bible when preparing a sermon 26% stated they felt they were adequately fed spiritually. 14% of pastors spend an hour or less in personal devotions each week.[2] 77% said they felt that did not have a good marriage. Sadly, my family has had to deal with a few of these. My father is a music minister and early in his ministry he worked for one of the most self-centered, backwards pastors that I have ever encountered. One day without warning, and reason, he informed my dad that he didn't want him at the church any longer. Brokenhearted but full of faith, my parents packed up our family and went wherever the Lord led them. Thankfully the Lord works through times like those and he has blessed us in so many ways through the EPC church in Houston that we have been with for the past ten years. Praise God for His faithfulness!
