Emma masters phonics

I am a bit tardy posting this but a couple of weeks ago Emma finished her phonics book "An Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading." She has been a good reader for a while but we are now officially done and moving on to more of a literature program while continuing to work through Explode the Code. She and I celebrated with a trip to Maggie Moos.

It is amazing to think how quickly she has grown from the little 3 year old who would lounge on the couch with "War and Peace" or the current day's classic and "pretend" to read telling us things like,"I am on page 97" or "Can I finish this chapter first?" Now she can really say those things!!

A Jack Funny

*that diverting vocabulary strikes again

We got home late from church last night. I told him to get ready for bed right away. He said he as really thirsty and could he get a drink of water first. I told him he could adn he got his drink and then got ready for bed. Then as he was going to bed, he said, "I still need to get my bedtime drink. I was just thirsty before; it wasn't my official bedtime drink."
