Janey Kate is 3 Months

Lat Sunday Janey Kate turned 3 months and I snapped a few of her wearing her first smocked dress. It is one I made for Emma.

I didn't get to take her bunny pictures until the next day. I love babies in overalls!

Janey Kate Laughs!

Monday, February 28, 2011

It's 9:15 am; what's everyone doing?

Mom was teaching Jack to wash dishes today(Go Mom!) and wanted me to take some pictures so I decided to take pictures of what all the kids were doing.

Here is Jack showing me this messy pan he was getting ready to clean. The crazy boy was very excited.
His dedicated teacher looking on while he scrubbed the skillet.

Now off to find Creed...
There is he is on Anne Michal's bed "reading" an I Spy book.
Another view to show off some cute piggies.

Oh and look in the hallway is Anne Michal. She is emptying a clothes basket of all the items that no one has wanted to claim for quite some time.
She was asking, "Whose is this Mom?" Then she looks up to see the camera and asks, "MOM! What are you doing?"
"Seriously, Mom, don't take my picture." You'd think she was 13 or something.

I wonder where Emma is?
Looking out the living room window, I find her out on the swing with Janey Kate. I don't know for sure, but I bet she was telling her a story or singing her a song.

I still need to find Elizabeth.
I walk back by Anne Michal who is still trying to hide from the camera and open the door to Elizabeth and Emma's room.
There she is working on her writing like a good student! (She wasn't too thrilled either to have her picture taken, but she didn't hide!)

I wonder how Jack did on that skillet?

Looks pretty good!! He asked if he could be the official dishwasher from now on. I told him to knock himself out. I wonder how long until the novelty wears off...

Cutest Little Cowboy in TX!

Creed loves to pretend he is Jesse from Toy Story. I wondered why he wanted to be Jesse(a girl character) instead of Woody(a boy character) and he said because Jesse rides bullseye and says "Yeehaw!" I thought those were fabulous reasons and besides, Woody is rather whiny anyway! So here he is riding "bullseye." Elizabeth fastened on some reigns for him. I also have to add that she helped him get his outfit on and she made sure he wore his toy story unnerwear too. Cracked me up!
The blue thing is his lasso and he is waving it around yelling, "Yeehaw!"

Creed's New Bed

Ok...not really. Elizabeth and Creed were playing in my closet and she made him a bed on the bottom shelf. He cried and creid when I wouldn't let him take his nap there. He didn't seem to think he'd fall out.

Red and Aqua

My new love in fabric:
Janey Kate's first "mommy made dress" that I made in the fall. The fabric is called Plain Jane and the pattern is Sweet Little Dress from Lelia and Ben.
Then I thought I was ordering more of the flowers fabric for the older girls from one of my favorite online fabric stores, Marie-Madeline Studios and bought a bigger print instead. I made a dress up for Emma from this free pattern and wasn't sure I was going to like it but I do. I just need to move the straps in a bit. This is going to be her Easter dress; I feel amazingly ahead of the game, but I bet I am still doing some sewing the week before anyway.
I also took the leftovers from Janey Kate's dress and some other coordinating fabric I had to make myself a kindle cover. I love it. It makes me smile just looking at it.

Chicken Pot Pie: The Continuing Story

So my picky eater cleans his plate (and then wolfs down a PB&J because he is still hungry but no way is eating another serving) and my not-so-picky 13 year old picks out all the peas and leaves them behind. I find myself telling my mom that there was a time that she liked peas. She liked them until we started listening to Sandra Boyton's Rhinocerous Tap CD and the song O, Lonely Peas that goes a little like this:

Dinner is over. I like what I ate,

Except for the peas, which are still on my plate.

O, Lonely Peas, so green, so round, and so small.

O, Lonely Peas, there’s no on who loves you at all…

I guess when you are two and are singing about how no one likes peas at all then you take it so seriously that you hate them too.

While we are on the topic of Rhinocerous Tap, I might as well add that we listened to this CD a lot when Anne Michal was two and Elizabeth was a baby. They song Bad, Bad Babies was a humorous way we all dealt with Elizabeth's incessant crying. Here is a tidbit of those lyrics:

I’m five years old, so you can take it from me -

These babies are never what you want them to be.

They whine and they bite, they chew on your toys,

And oh, do they make the most terrible noise!

Bad babies, they yell and they cry.

Bad, bad babies – you never know why.

They never ever do the things that they should.

Oh, bad babies, why can’t you be good?

I know; it sounds terrible doesn't it? It helped us laugh and cope. In reality, I remember people would ask me if she was a good baby. Some of my standard answers were "She'd like to be good. Really she would" and "She isn't bad, just high maintenance."

The two year old turned pea traitor

And she looks way too sweet to be high maintenance.

And nope, my babies look nothing alike. not.at.all.
